Every time I close my eyes I see you under yellow light you lay across your room like every Thursday night Let’s lay down and drink some wine and listen to CDs and wrap our arms around our warm bodies I could have sworn you thought the same but how frantic your breath became I guess there’s only one for you I’ll just forget about you too Rumours are my feelings it would seem I thought I found something a kiss could mean so people love just what is comforting while I just feel whatever I can sing We’re beautiful, I know it’s true We’ve all got these cute little things we do we trace our lives in coloured chalk of endless school days our lives long I wish I’d find something that’s true I thought that I found that in you I find this unbearable, my dear you’ve made your feelings painfully clear Don’t you ruin your life for me, dear girl our beings eventually unfurl into a mess we call our fate give it control so we can wait

I used to be a magician but I’ve never made you float I’ve got these rings that can conceal some coins in pockets in my coat Speak some words inside your mind and try to make me hear and breath real slow in subtle tones too sparse to interfere This meeting wasn’t prearranged or part of some design Close your eyes and concentrate and meld your thoughts with mine choose your cards and disregard my advances in your space and speak your choice inside my voice as I read from your face don’t you try to hide your kind, I see what she’s found today is false and she knows she counters all these falsehoods in her sleep she dreams and pines her losses I can’t recall a summer day just what’s this miracle you’ve found that she shows she’s tied this secrets in boxes tight with rope and keeps the mistakes I’ve made inside you used to be a person I could hold within my sight I’ve gambled all of that away with pointless feats of sleight my strings are nearly visible against the sequinned screen but from your second row perspective I doubt they will be seen I can’t impress with gimmicking and coins behind your ear my greatest feat of magic was to make you disappear these candles won’t remember God you’ve got to try and hold me now I can’t remember what I felt so many days in summer sealed your fate and crossed your eyes in tones I can’t recall since you had tricked me into losing her I know, you saw magic in her eyes and it glows but to witness this is magic for me I must apologize for feats of sleight

Under a milky sky that’s thick with water cold to almost freeze the last of summer’s errings leave along the gutters in the breeze these trees are twisting up their arms from warnings of a winter dawn they crack and crystals form and splintered leaves upon asphalt are drawn

about

“Frail”, the latest release from David Disher’s The Creamier Tones, is a daring, boldly critical examination of personal and cultural alienation and the desperate ways in which we attempt, and often fail, to connect with one another. Disher employs numerous, highly expressive production details and techniques to hint at the crippling emotional consequences of severe anxiety and the stifling, often maddening difficulties that we face when trying to express such emotions clearly and effectively. Musically, “Frail” is an ambitious and consistently compelling mixture of electronica, shoegaze and chamber pop which is both imaginatively conceived and meticulously executed.

Throughout this EP, Disher skillfully balances accessibility and artistic integrity, the epic and the intimate, dissatisfaction and hope; through “Frail” he offers us a brief but profound statement about the emotional and psychological pollution that we must dispel and overcome in order to connect and effectively relate to one another.
