Marty is a hatchet and a stiff
just a jacket full of knuckles, blood and ribs
stewing in a hash of ticks and churning silt

Marty has a face like weathered brick
two scabby sockets under twisted cartilage
and two bloody lips wrapped around a broken cigarette

He’s got what his mother calls
A natural sense of vengeance
he can’t explain why, but he’s sure it’s alright
to raise a little hell

Marty’s got a hook stuck in his lip
that pulls his sneer into a crooked, hateful grin
but he never wonders much about the drafts that
